My Adventures with FFA
I have been in an organization called FFA or known as Future Farmers of America, which is a student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. I joined FFA when I started going to Tri-Rivers my junior and senior years 2016-2019. I live in the city of Marion, Ohio so I never knew what FFA was until I went to Tri-Rivers. My parents where one of my best supporters in FFA they loved that I found something that I was passionate about. FFA has helped build my character, and helped make me who I am today. In this organization I have been able to meet some amazing people, go on adventures, and become a leader people can look up to.
One place I have traveled to is Indianapolis on an FFA trip for National Convention. This trip has affected me in some pretty important ways, the people I met where so kind unlike the people you meet in Ohio, just the people you will meet are pretty amazing. I had a fun time on my trip, we did so many activities. We went to a Garth Brooks concert, a fancy dinner, shopping, and just hanging out in the hotel with other FFA members from other schools. I remember one morning my FFA group was running late everyone was up late the night before no one got up on time. As I rush down stairs to meet with everyone in my FFA group I could smell the sizzling bacon and the fresh cooked eggs the staff had made for breakfast I can see the fresh pancakes calling my name. There was someone else sitting downstairs she has long blond curly hair and pretty blue eyes. She says “you’re a cheetah rushing around like that” we both laugh. I got my food and sat down she came to sit with me “my name is Sara” I introduced myself as I was stuffing my face full with the very good food and we had a good morning of what was left of it. Shortly after my FFA group came downstairs and everyone was ready to go, so I said goodbye but before I go I asked her for her Snapchat and she gave it to me. Latter that day when my group got back to the hotel I met up with Sara and we began talking about the things our FFA groups done that day. When I was talking I showed Sara my new fuzzy FFA socks that I had got “look Sara I got these really soft socks touch them” and she did and we both laughed at how childish I was being. Sara and I began talking and telling each other about our self’s, and I learnd so much about Sara, she was adopted when she was very young, her favorite color is pink, and most important she loved to draw just like me. As we are about to head to our rooms for lights out Sara looks over at me and says “We are going to be good friends” I nodded my head and agreed, and we have been friends ever since. National convention is not the only FFA trip I have been able to go on. Another trip I have been on is officer retreat from when I decided to become an officer my senior year of high school.
Officer Retreat was a learning experience for me, I learned leadership skills so I can help lead our FFA team. As role of FFA Reporter I was in charge of taking all of the pictures, writing articles, and over all being a leader to my fellow FFA members. At officer retreat all the officers got to know each other a little better, and learn some skills on how to work better as a team. As I got to know my fellow officers I learned that we have more in common than I thought we would, most of us were taking the same classes. This trip was a three day trip and each day we done something different. The first day we played get to know you games, the second day we played put put golf. The third and final day we got to go to a fancy restaurant and have a nice meal together as a FFA family. Although the trip was fun we still had work that had to be done during the trip, I was taking pictures and preparing to talk to our FFA members back home about our trip. The other officers had tasks they had to complete while on the trip, like studying our opening ceremony which is how we start our meetings and many more tasks. When we got back home I was prepared to lead a meeting, because of all the practicing at officer retreat. I begin the meeting by making sure everyone was seated so that our FFA president could start our meeting. Once I got everyone seated all of the officer went on to our schools stage and began the meeting.
FFA is a student organization that has helped me grow and become a better leader, better at giving advice, and a little better at speaking in public. FFA goes on several trips and on those trips you can meet some amazing people, learn new things, and just have fun.
