Journal nine - Taylor

After reading the profile about Jerry Lawson, video game inventor. I was curious to know what percentage of women work in the video game industry and the results did not surprise. In 2015, studies showed that 22% of women made up the video game industry. After researching why that is I found that most women do not want to continue in the workforce due to the responses and actions they get from their peers and colleagues. Though the percentage is low, it does increase every year. Now, the difference of females that just play videos game to men is much more closer than the gap that develop.

The profile that has been the most relatable to me is the story of the English teacher, Ayodeji Ogunniyi. This story is relatable to me because it talks about his true drive for teaching and his passion for it which I can connect to as I am pursuing an education career. He talks about always wanting to pass his knowledge down onto his students all while he's still learning himself. He talks about always caring for his students and showing genuine interest which I believe is a very important quality to have as a teacher.

  1. Hey Taylor.
I think it is so surprising that women get treated differently in the workforce. I found out from my mom that she gets lower pay even though she has the same experience as the men in her work. I feel that the world will never change from being sexist. I feel devastated that women are not equal when it comes to working a man's job. I feel that the only way to change this socially if more people stand up to the world.

  2. 22 percent is what I would have guessed for that career choice for women. I feel that most women wouldn't enjoy or want to go into that career because most just aren't that interested.

  3. I related to Ayodeji Ogunniyi's profile too because of the same reasons you did. I really liked his teaching style because he really took interest in all of his students. It really inspired me even more to want to become a teacher.
