One question i found from my reading was from the chef and restraurateur on page 241 in the book. How many well known chefs in the world are blind? There are not as many blind chefs in the world as non blind chefs because most people don't believe they can do those certain kinds of things while blind. There are a lot of common jobs for the blind that aren't chefs that the blind just settle with because they don't think they are capable for more challenging jobs that are out there.

The chapter i most connect to was the icu nurse talking to her daughter on page 138. My mom is a nurse at Osu in the transplant unit and i think she is the best nurse i know. I had always wanted to be nurse and wanted to help people but then i learned it was much more than just "Taking care of people", its a lot of stress and hard work to be a nurse and i appreciate and respect my mom so much for the work she does everyday especially when she goes in for her shifts. she is truly a hero to many people including me. She inspired me to still take care of people but in a different way ( their hygiene ).
hi Shae for the longest time my Aunt wanted to be a nurse although she did't like the stress that came with the job like you did. Additionally she also did't like the amount of schooling required to to get into that career field.
ReplyDeleteI do find it really cool that people with disabilities can find something amazing to do. Knew a girl in elementary school that was really good at swimming even though she only had one arm with three fingers.
ReplyDeleteHi shae, I really liked your research question. I think this profile is was one of my favorites throughout the book. Very inspiring story!
