PTSD
PTSD is a mental health condition that can affect anyone in the world at any age. PTSD affects multiple biological systems, such as the brain, neurochemistry, and cellular, immune, endocrine and metabolic functions which in my opinion those are a lot of important systems to be tampered with. PTSD is caused by exposure to a frightening experience such as sexual assault, war, natural disaster, accidents or the threat of death. Most people who have been exposed to traumatic events develop feelings of anger, shock, fear, guilt, and anxiety. When someone has PTSD they have these feelings that intensify until the person is overwhelmed and unable to function which is horribly sad to me. The highest rates for PTSD occur among sexual assault survivors and military veterans. When researching I found that 8 percent of the United States population will experience PTSD in their lives. I found it Interesting that women are twice as likely to develop PTSD than men. In the article I read it said that PTSD has affected more than 150,000 service members since the year 2000. PTSD is very heartbreaking because obviously the majority of the people that have it had something horrible happen to them and after they were terrified from what they had gone through.
