While researching about the food in Sierra Leone, I found out that almost all their food is spicy. They are also very well known for their soups and stews and never have a meal that doesn’t involve rice. Weather they are eating seafood or pasta they are also eating rice. In Sierra Leone they often say “If you haven’t eaten rice today then you haven’t eaten”. They almost always use local food such as fruits and potatoes but, everyone just considers these snacks because their real meals are ,wait for it, made with rice!! They cook it with hot peppers, potato leaves, chicken, fish and many other kinds of things. If you walk around you can find a lot of things that we eat everyday. they have local markets with all kinds of fresh fruits and vegetables. One thing I found very interesting was that some families are against eating certain foods because that’s what their ancestors did. If you visit Sierra Leone you are most likely going to be eating something containing rice and it’s probably gonna be healthy because that’s what a lot of their food consists of.

Hey Payton
ReplyDeleteWhat I found interesting is that most food is spicy. I like spicy food, and I think it will be cool to try new things.
I think this is an interesting topic, you can make a lot of meals with rice and they are healthy. Also I don't know how I feel about not eating something just because my ancestor didn't eat it, if I like something I want to eat it
ReplyDeleteThe food posted above does not look that good, but I bet is when I taste it! Never judge a book by its cover.
ReplyDeleteI thought the quote you used was really good because it gave me a sense of how important rice must be to them. This research topic really gave me an idea of the culture there and what food they ate.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why but before reading this I automatically assumed that spicy foods were most common! Being a very picky eater, this is not appealing whatsoever. Especially the spicy part of it!
ReplyDeleteThis topic interested me because I wanted to know what people ate in Sierra Leone. I didn't know the food in Sierra Leone was spicy or that they had rice with every meal. I also found it strange that they don't eat something that their ancestors didn't eat.
ReplyDeleteWow this topic is incredibly interesting. The fact that pretty much all the food in Sierra Leon is spicy is mind boggling. I can’t stand spicy food so I would not be able to handle the type of food of that area. Also the fact that they have rice at almost every meal is also very strange to think about. I couldn’t imagine having rice every meal I would honestly get really tired of it.
